To Have and To Hold
To Have and To Hold is our marriage preparation program here at St. Pius X Church. It is typically held in person and run by different married couples in our parish. The retreat includes four different sessions throughout the month with a group of engaged couples and married “mentor” couples.
It is a great time to get to know other engaged couples as well as begin conversations with your future spouse that you will continue throughout your marriage! For more information, please call Kirsten Bernardo at 518-462-1336.
Please come join us and meet other couples at St. Pius X! We are excited to walk with you in this journey and prepare you for the beautiful Sacrament of Matrimony.

FAQ’s About Weddings
If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to call the parish office at (518) 462-1336
What’s involved in preparing for marriage at St. Pius X?
Fr. Walsh looks forward to meeting with couples to develop a marriage preparation program suited for them. Please contact our Parish Secretary, Carm Turpin, at secretary@stpiusxloudonville.org or (518)-462-1336 for more information and Pre Cana retreat dates.
Can we have a unity candle (or the mixing of sand) as part of our ceremony?
Yes, but please know they are not part of the marriage ceremony. If you choose to do so, you will need to supply all the materials, including the three candles and candle stands.
Can we have a candle in remembrance of our deceased loved ones?
Yes, we are happy to recognize your deceased loved ones in this way.
Can we have a runner?
Yes, but we recommend against it for safety reasons. Runners tend to “bunch up” and can present a tripping hazard. If you choose to have a runner, the length of the aisle at St. Pius X Church is 75 feet.
Can we use flower petals, rice or bubbles?
Bubbles are fine, but we ask that you avoid flower petals or rice.
When are weddings celebrated at St. Pius?
Most Friday afternoons and evenings and most Saturdays are available for weddings. Because of our vigil Mass, the latest Saturday afternoon start time would be 2:30pm. There is an option for a 6:30pm Saturday evening wedding. We encourage you to confirm your wedding plans before securing a reception site.
Does the church provide musicians?
Yes, please contact Brian Hoffman, our Music Director, at 518-462-1336 or music@stpiusxloudonville.org. He will meet with you to plan the music for your ceremony.
Does St. Pius prepare wedding programs?
No, we do not have the staffing to provide this service.
What rules are there for photographers?
We suggest having photographers and videographers check with the priest prior to the wedding ceremony.
Can my wedding be livestreamed?
Yes! All you have to do is indiciate on the ‘Ceremony Planning’ form that you’d like to have your wedding livestreamed.
